Tea ๐ซ As Medicine: Part 1
MY TEA SERIES (I typed into my search engine: tea as medicine- I donโt speak to A.I.)
Historically, tea was considered a medicinal remedy before it became a popular beverage, with ancient Chinese texts like the Xin Xiu Ben Cao formally classifying it as a medicine to eliminate thirst, heat, and phlegm. While modern science confirms tea possesses health-giving propertiessuch as reducing inflammation and providing antioxidants, it is not a magical cure for diseases like cancer or heart disease, though it may help lower the risk of chronic conditions.
Traditional Uses: In Traditional Chinese Medicine, tea balances body energies; in Ayurveda, herbal teas detoxify and rejuvenate; and in Western apothecaries, it was sold to treat skin ailments, sleepiness, and memory loss.
Scientific Benefits: Tea contains polyphenols, catechins, and theaflavins which act as antioxidants to fight free radicals, potentially reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease and aiding digestion.
Limitations: Claims that tea cures cancer are not supported by conclusive evidence; it can prevent or reduce risk factors but does not replace scientifically validated Western medicine.
Specific Types: Green tea is noted for cancer prevention and inflammation reduction, pu-erh tea for lowering cholesterol, and chamomile herbal tea for digestive relief and sleep aid.

Although tea offers significant benefits for skin health, oral hygiene (fluoride and plaque inhibition), and wakefulness (caffeine and L-theanine), it should be viewed as a supportive component of a holistic lifestyle rather than a standalone treatment.

Teas are absolutely the backbone of medicine. The original medicine, so donโt be afraid of telling people the truth. My Substack My Untamed Soul, is dedicated to providing deep research into these things. We need to return to the original medicines.
Thank you for this substack topic.
I'm curious about which herbs for tea, help clearing much phlegm from sinuses, especially this time of year in the Pacific Northwest?
